Healthy living for healthy skin.
To heal your skin and get rid of acne for good, choose to make decisions that will lead you to live a healthier lifestyle.
This means eating the right food, exercising regularly and maintaining a daily skincare routine. It may seem daunting at first, but there are simple yet effective changes you can make in your life to form good habits. You don’t have to do it all at once. Small steps lead to big changes.
What you eat:
Eating a more plant-based and cleaner diet can make a big difference when your aim is to have clear and healthy skin. When you eat a balanced diet, your liver and kidneys will flush out the toxins before your body resorts to releasing them through your skin.
Avoid processed food high in refined sugar, and instead, consume a high alkaline diet with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables. Go after the leafy green veggies and other brightly-coloured fruits which are rich in antioxidants and nutrients and will help reduce inflammation and improve your skin’s renewal process. Other skin-boosting superfoods include legumes, nuts, eggs, and quinoa.
Remember to stay hydrated too (and by this, we mean water — not caffeine and fizzy drinks). Limit your intake of dairy products as they contain hormones and antibiotics that may aggravate your breakouts (Source: Healthline).
We’re all aware of how daily exercise is needed to improve our overall well-being, including healthy skin. Exercise helps to tame hormones like testosterone (which causes overproduction of sebum), counteracts stress and strengthens your immune system.
By going for a run, joining a yoga class or simply choosing to walk home instead of catching the bus, introducing some kind of daily exercise will improve your circulatory system. In return, this will help to flush your body of toxins. So one big change you can make right now is to get up and get moving for at least 30 minutes every day.
From making a more conscious decision on what you choose to eat and how much you exercise every day, you’ll slowly start to see a difference in the way you feel about yourself and your skin.
